While the Blue Ajah welcomes girls with an interest in studying to become one of us, the Blue Ajah is not for the faint of heart! Sisters of the Blue are rarely idle, having to be both versatile and flexible to manage the many demands on their time, and must be able to skilfully balance discipline and correction with kindness and understanding. In addition, an endless supply of patience is a very great asset in those wishing to enter the Blue Ajah someday – and the more endless, the better!

To be truly suited to the Blue Ajah, you must have a passion for justice – for seeing it done, for administering it, and for discovering exactly what justice means in each situation. In fact, you must be able to devote yourself to your work, single-mindedly pursuing the good of the White Tower. Sisters of the Blue spend their lives on those causes they deem worthy of championing, rarely taking Warders, and always making that which must be done their highest priority. Being a Blue sister also means being able to stand in the face of criticism of your actions – and standing by those actions, even when at times your only reward is knowing that you did what was necessary. Living in this way comes with its price, and the Blue Ajah pays it willingly; to enter the Blue Ajah you must be prepared to accept that also.

One of the largest parts of the work of the Blue Ajah is related to dealing with novices, Accepted, and girls who wish to enter the Tower. An interest in dealing with those girls, in teaching and listening and answering questions, and a desire to see them benefit is a necessity for a Blue sister. You must also be able to make the difficult decisions about exactly what would most benefit a student, and what would be the best course of action to take… And have I mentioned patience?

Becoming a sister of the Blue Ajah is not an easy task, but it can be immensely rewarding if you are truly one of those suited to the work. We look forward to hearing from you if this sounds like you – and you are welcome to seek any of us out for more information.
